Lelan's Gang

Yesterday I began working on a trio of siblings. I have my work cut out for me on this one as they are each unique and I am going to try and capture that uniqueness in each doll.

Here are the bodies all presewn of organic interlock knit fabric.

This is the body of the first little guy...His head will be formed today and with any luck I will be able to assemble the body as well.

More images to follow...

Kara's Gal

Ok, so here are the images of her as she progressed. She is finished now and just about ready to be posted in the shop for pickup.

Her eyes are a mix of grey, light blue and some dark blue. The little darling whose eyes these are copies of has some of the most colorful eyes...

All ready for her hair
Finished!

Her hair is a mix of worsted weight, mohair and loopy boucle yarn. Since she has those curls in the front and back I concentrated the loopy yarn in the front and in the back with some scattered throughout.

Olivia's Page...

Hey all,

A really great young friend of ours is working hard right now to earn money so she can attend a Global Youth Peace Summit this summer. She has started a page to explain it and receive donations. Drop by and check it out and if your heart tells you, donate.

This really is a great kiddo :o) So please pass this along to anyone else you may know who might be interested in helping her out

Peace

Working hard lately

This little ensemble is the outfit for a custom little gal I am making for Kara :o) I promise to have more pics of her tomorrow or this evening...if I can make it back to the computer tonight.

I finished up this little golden mermaid gal yesterday. Her colors turned out exactly as I saw them...I love the bright yellow.

I love the hair on this one :o)

Yes, I am still here :o)

I know its been quiet around here lately, or at least on this blog. Truth is, its been so busy around here I have had very little time to do much of anything let alone blog :o)

We had some teenage hiccups lately. It made me realize how much I enjoy the little kid phase :o) you know the one where a snuggle with mama and perhaps some glue or a little sewing can fix just about anything :o)

I sooooo miss those days.

Teenagers are so different with a whole different set of issues, most of which, we as parents are completely powerless to do anything about. Its hard to watch the struggles and heartache. A hug just doesn't seem to make a dent. I keep recalling an old friend of mine saying years ago "Little people, little problems. Big people, big problems."

It just makes me want to snuggle my little folks even more lately.

Thru it all I have been working thru a collection of custom orders...seems as though lots of people have birthdays in June :o) Its been busy but its been great.

I managed to get some shop dolls finished. Below is my latest mermaid. I named her Coral and she will be posted in my shop in a little bit here.

She turned out so cute :o)

Anyway, yes we are all still puttering along. I am happy to see the orders still coming in...its good to keep busy. It also feels great to hear about how happy these little folks are making other folks out there.

Thanks so much to all of you.

Until next time...Peace.

This little gal is finished and ready to go to her new home.

I'll be making some changes to my custom orders to allow some more specific choices for you all, so I will be taking the 16 inch custom listing down from my shop for a bit. Hopefully I will have the changes ready by later today or tomorrow.

Weird Weekend...not too much accomplished...

We had some nasty weather roll thru here Friday, as many of you probably heard from the news.  We lost power and we had lots of trees and debris all over the place.  Our street was covered with branches and pieces of trees.  We weathered it fine, our neighbor across the street had his whole front yard of trees crash into the front of his house.  Nasty mess.  Some huge old trees were knocked down all over the neighborhood.

The power came back on in the wee hours of the morning and the internet was sketchy at best all weekend.  It appears as though things are back to normal for us.  I included a picture of our neighbor's front yard.

Lots of cleanup to do...still...

I was able to get some work finished on this little custom gal.  Her wings are attached and her ladybug "tattoos" are all finished :o)  Her blouse is done and I am working on her flower skirt today.  The last thing will be her hair.  She looks great so far...I should have more pics of her later today.

A Little Bit of Nature :o)

This first photo is from last year, this time.  This little mama turtle was in our back yard digging a hole to lay her eggs for about four hours.  My oldest daughter and I sat on our deck and watched her dig away for the whole time.

When she finished, she ended up burying three eggs.

We spent the next few weeks watching the spot and counting the days.  One morning we awoke and there was a hole where the mound was and the only thing left inside were the soft remains of the egg shells...we didn't get to see it, but our babies had hatched.

This year we have had several sightings of the babes in our yard.  We saw this little guy yesterday.  I remembered this time to get the camera so here he (or she) is.  One of our baby turtles :o)

She turned out adorable...though not even close to being as absolutely adorable as the original little gal she is modeled after :o)

Heavy Babies...

Its been kind of quiet here lately...I know.  At least its been quiet online :o)

I thought I would take a moment to post this little blurb about a local artist friend of mine who, aside from making some of the most adorable little felted hamsters and mice I have ever seen, has now begun making heavy babies.  This little darling is available now in her shop http://Maddkatter.etsy.com

One Day in Time...

Actually it was set up and maintained over several days :o)  The three younger kiddos love making forts out of the dining room table.  They were at it again this week so I though I would show off some pics of the structure :o)

Of course the key component in any well made fort is the old quilt made by Great Grandma (G.G.)  This blanket has been the core of a lot of adventures :o)

Below, they were having a blast.

The rest of us ate in the kitchen all week :o)

Wednesday, May 6, 2009

We have a bunch of different things going on this month...lots of things to keep us busy.  I have begun another custom order...will post images in a bit here of her so far :o)  She's almost ready for her hair.

I am also making renaissance costumes for our crew.  We go every year.  I am currently working on poet shirts for the two boys...dk blue and olive green :o)  I will post images as they come along.  I hope to have the two of them done by the end of this week.

Its been rainy the past couple of days.  The rain has been good...it pushed the pollen out of the air making life a whole lot easier for those of us with seasonal allergies.  The downside, its all muddy.  Everything is very green now.

I just had a kiddo run by wearing a wizard cloak asking about lunch, so I guess I should get off and get that done.

Later,
